Abyss

Maghaak (Abyss) is a personal journey into the layers of forgetting and memory, where the absence of a lost loved one becomes a constant presence, and the past continues to shape the present. This photographic series recounts the artist’s encounter with the shadow of a deceased uncle who passed away years before the artist’s birth, yet whose memory remains an invisible fissure in the family’s history. In these photographs, the boundaries between absence and presence, darkness and light, forgetting and remembering are suspended, as if the image were the only passage across an abyss connecting the past to the present and the future.
